Ventura has always been the sleepy little beach town that people pass through on their way to Santa Barbara. In recent years our downtown has started to shine and vacationers are taking notice. Among the breweries, surf shops and antiques is Tiki Girl boutique. Previously located in a tiny shop, in a side alley, it was often difficult for visitors to find. A few months ago, owner Briana Garcia moved to a larger location on Main Street, her clientele can now easily locate her and new clients are filing in.

While living in New York, Briana discovered that her life there wasn’t as she’d hoped. She packed her bags and headed back home to Ventura (after a short stint in Europe) and with a bit of soul searching, she began to write a novel. Afterwhile she had to ascertain the fact that the book writing may have been more than she bargained for and started a blog about local businesses(to assist her writing skills). About that time she heard that the original Tiki Girl was put up for sale. When asked if she knew of anyone that may be interested in purchasing the small shop, Briane replied with, “Me!”, and bought it a month later. Without any previous experience in the retail industry, she jumped on board and hasn’t looked back since.

Four and a half years later, she has grasped the business and turned it completely around. Not only has she added new brands and transformed the look; she has successfully retained her previous customers and gained so many more. Carrying brands like Cleobella, Flynn Skye and Boys & Arrows, she has updated Tiki Girl and also brought it to the web.

We are so happy to have Briane and Tiki Girl in Downtown Ventura. The shop is located at 434 E. Main Street and you can find Tiki Girl on the web at shoptikigirl.com
