music// Whitey Morgan & the 78'

A night out with friends is always a good one. A night out wiith friends to see Whitey Morgan & the 78's is a damn good one!

Whitey Morgan & the 78's is Whitey Morgan on guitar/vocals, Brett Robinson on pedal steel guitar, Joey Spina on guitar, Alex Lyon on Bass, and Tony Dicello on drums - an American honky tonk country band, based in Flint, Michigan. They have taken the 'pop country' scene and dropped it on it's ass. With songs like "Buick City", "Me and the Whiskey", "Still Drunk, Still Crazy, Still Blue", these guys seem more Nashville than the sound that's coming out of there these days.

Whitey is sometimes compared to Waylon Jennings, with his deep twangy voice, and it's not hard to hear the resemblance. Channeling those former country outlaws - Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Merle Haggard - you can hear the influence and feel the individuality coming from their own life stories.

If the only country music you listen to is on Spotify because your favorites aren't around to see, check in on a Whitey Morgan show and you'll be wondering why you hadn't heard about him sooner. For those of you that are already fans, keep supporting, because we need to keep this group going.
